Old SubbuteoTown
Which came first, the houses or the pitch?
The pitch obviously! The town grew up around it, with folks coming from far and wide to 'bagsy' their plot of land, so they can watch all the games from the comfort of their living room sofas.
Inspired by the phenomenon of the local community football team with a local following, and then the whole town turns up to support them in a big cup match, like Marine AFC v Spurs in the 3rd Round of the Cup. Check out the ground they've played at since 1903. It used to be called Rossett Park - one side runs alongside the back gardens of houses on Rossett Road.
Maybe someone will build a town one day to replicate Old Subbuteo Town! ?

Exhibition at The Amelia Scott Centre
From September 2024 to January 2025, The Amelia Scott centre in Tunbridge Wells held a Subbuteo exhibition to celebrate the 2024 Subbuteo World Cup, which was 'coming home'!
The Old Subbuteo Town featured as a main exhibit, and was placed within a perspex cabinet, which it had mixed feelings about. On the one hand it could be displayed without risk of damage, but on the other hand, no-one could have a game on it!

Old Subbuteo Town at Loftus Road
Finally, in March 2025, the Old Subbuteo Town pitch had its first public interactive experience at Loftus Road, the home of Queens Park Rangers, when it was one of the 5 pitches used for the inaugural Peter Adolph Trophy.
The trophy was awarded by his son Mark, in honour of his father, the inventor of Subbuteo. To do this at Loftus Road was particularly fitting, as Peter had been a lifelong supporter of Queens Park Rangers.
