STAR WARS idea

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

Subbuteo did not exist because no-one could get the teams to play, and the resulting turmoil had engulfed the Galactic Republic. The greedy Trade Federation had a blockade of deadly battleships, to stop all selling of Subbuteo products to the small planet of Naboo, which held the only licence as a Subbuteo distributor.

While the Congress of the Republic endlessly debates this alarming chain of events, the Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Subi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, to create a Subbuteo pitch to bring Subbuteo to the galaxy once more.

After consulting with Joda, several planets and scenes were chosen to represent the pitch.

ThE early matches

An all action shot of Youbuteo and Down the Wing, in their epic Star Wars battle. Down the Wing is about to pounce on his keeper to make a dramatic last-minute save!
A corner is taken from high on a crag near the pod race arena. The keeper has it covered!
Note, for the corner kicker to be used, an attacker needs to be taken off the pitch first.
A tense shootout is ended by Spudski's winning shot! Puffin appears to be distracted by the missile he was getting ready to fire to put Spud off his shot...!

A new home - The EWOK Arena

In 2022, the Star Wars Pitch moved to the home of David (Down the Wing) Heron, who lives in the mews house furthest away (far far away!)

It was renamed the Ewok Arena.

This pic is taken from 2023, as the year before the rough Old Subbuteo players had scuffed up his lovely carpet with their enthusiastic play!

The many hanging planets can ambush players so engrossed in the game they forget they are there!
Designed just for kick-off, but all the players have kept it on the pitch during the game!
