Fuorigioco – The Old Subbuteo Town Band
This may be the first song featuring an Old Heavyweight Figure on guitar.
Inspired by a trip to Parabiago to play in an Old Subbuteo tournament, and a game with the irrepressible Ottiko.
One over-enthusiastic attack, one schoolboy error and one deflated player later, there was a perfect excuse to write a melancholic song about having a goal disallowed for offside. ??
Lyrics
Heading down the road to Parabiago
Head to head with Ottiko-di-Pazzo
This is why we had to go
Get a move right down the wing
Miniature men doing their thing
Some go straight and some go curling
Shooting on the fly through the crowd
Inside right doing us proud
Couldn’t believe it was disallowed
Shoulda hadda onside flick
Shoulda hadda on - side - flick
Shoulda hadda onside flick
Shoulda hadda…mmm…
Shoulda hadda onside flick
Shoulda hadda on - side - flick
Shoulda hadda onside flick
Shoulda hadda…mmm…Fuorigioco
Got too keen to give it a go
Shooting on the fly – what a show
Roof of the net but the ref said no
Shoulda hadda onside flick
Shoulda hadda on - side - flick
…onside flick
Shoulda hadda…mmm…
Shoulda hadda onside flick
Shoulda hadda on - side - flick
Shoulda hadda onside flick
Shoulda hadda…mmm…Fuorigioco
Message to Chris
Everyone else ignore this bit...
After verse 2 - Maybe add a bar of the ZZ Top drum roll ('backwards arms' thing like wot they do)
The bit after chorus 1, to be normal timing, without whatever went on there(!)
After chorus 2, some extra bars for the Subbuteo figure to play some lead guitar...?
Then a final chorus (no repeat - just one thankfully!)
